We really felt that when we asked about taking one of the puppies, Michelle and Doug really cared about the futures of each one. She had all of the paperwork ready and had terms spelled out before we got there to look at them. Even though we arrived so late at night (sorry!), they took the time to talk about each puppy and the individual traits that they exhibited from the time they were born. We were allowed to interact with all of them both inside and out so that we could get an idea of their personalities.
It was also very important that we meet Zilpo. It was very clear that great pride was taken in choosing the parents and that good lineage was established. The lineage was also ready for us when we picked up our new family member.
We are not very smart about what it takes to be a breeder, so it was important that we were told all about how the process was done with Michelle and Doug. We knew a lot more after the short time that we were there talking with them.
All in all, we got a lot more than a puppy. We keep in correspondence so that Michelle and Doug know how their efforts at good breeding have turned out. They send pictures, and we send them back, and we know that it is important to them.

Aleda has become a star in the family. I don't just mean to Joanna and I. When Joanna's mom came to visit one year, Aleda took it as her job to watch over her during the whole visit. She would get worried and try to herd all three of us together so she could watch us all.
When my mom, sister, and niece were visiting this October, Aleda knew the drill and watched out for them, too. My niece, who is just over a year old, would play with her toys, and Aleda would never be upset. She would ever so gently take the toy out of her hands. Everyone was so impressed with her patience.
She has no physical problems. She is very healthy.  When we are walking her around, everyone comments about how pretty her
coat is. Her markings are so beautiful.  She is well behaved, which also brings many comments. One of our vets said that she is the most well behaved dog that goes there. She learned how to "play dead" in 20 minutes. She is so smart.
We have no trust issues with her and our cat. They play together while we sleep, and sometimes during the day. Aleda would never hurt the cat, even though she has no idea that he is a cat!  She doesn't dig holes in the yard, she doesn't chew on furniture
(anymore), she doesn't tear up our clothes, eat food off of the table,
or get in the trash, she loves other dogs and is very well socialized, she knows what she's allowed to play with and what she's not allowed to play with, and she listens to commands. I would say that she has no bad tendencies.

I can talk about her for hours!
Good luck!
Jacob and Joanna
